Preparation for Plastic Surgery
Now that you have made the decision to improve your self confidence and self esteem by undergoing cosmetic surgery, the time is getting close for your surgery to occur. You now need to understand what will occur in the preparation stage of your surgery.
Things to Avoid Before Cosmetic Surgery
You will soon be getting preparation instructions from your cosmetic surgeon, if you have not already. It is very important that you follow every last suggestion in order for your plastic surgery to be smooth, uneventful, and entirely successful. When it comes to surgery, uneventful is exactly what you want. In this situation, complications are definitely not a good thing. Part of your instructions will include items or activities that you need to avoid for at least the two weeks prior to your cosmetic procedure. You will be asked to stop taking any over the counter medications that could inhibit either your surgery or your recovery. Such medications would include ibuprofen and aspirin. These two medications can affect the way that your blood clots. If you are a smoker, you will be asked to avoid smoking for at least the two weeks prior to surgery. Not only is smoking in general bad for your health, but the tobacco can greatly affect your healing process. If there is anything else that your particular cosmetic surgery procedure needs you to avoid, your instructions from your doctor should let you know.
Things to Arrange
In preparation for your surgery, you need to make sure that you have made several arrangements. First, you need to make sure that you have the appropriate time off from work. The exact amount of time away from work you will need will vary depending on the particular cosmetic procedure that you are having done. Your doctor can let you know the precise amount of time your recovery will take. You may also need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from your plastic surgery. Most procedures will need you to not drive yourself as at least a precautionary measure. You will most likely need to prepare your home for your recovery as well. After many plastic surgery procedures, you will need to have someone taking care of all of your needs for at least the first 24 hours. In many instances simply using the restroom will be hard enough work for you to manage. That may even be the only time that you get out of bed for that first 24 hours. You may also need to make sure that you have on hand any of the supplies that you may need to care for your incisions.
