Cosmetic Surgery Recovery
Your cosmetic surgery is now in the past. The next thing for you to deal with now is your recovery. This step is just as crucial as preparation and the actual surgery. Make sure to follow every suggestion given by your cosmetic surgeon, so that your recovery will go as smoothly as is possible. This is the time that may be the most frustrating for you. You have discomfort, discoloration, bruising, and frankly you probably don't look like a successful cosmetic surgery patient yet. Do not get discouraged. Once your body heals, you will see the results that you were hoping for in the mirror.
Possible Side Effects
It is during your recovery that the side effects show up. Most side effects go away as your healing process goes into effect. Swelling and bruising are two very common side effects from most cosmetic procedures. Cold packs can greatly help with both of these problems. The actual bruising discoloration will go away with time as your body does heal. Discomfort is also very common. One usual way to deal with the discomfort is with pain medication. Also, elevation for most body parts will help. For procedures that affect your facial features, your doctor will probably suggest that you keep your head propped up above your heart at all times for at least the first few days.
Cosmetic Surgery Incision Care
When you go home from your surgery you will receive strict instructions on how to care for your incision sight. Make sure you follow these instructions entirely so that an infection can be avoided. These instructions could include bandages, ointments, cleaning instructions, or even bathing restrictions or requirements for your incision. Some procedures require you to wear special items. For example, in a nose job, your bandages change to a different kind during each stage of healing. Also, in a liposuction procedure, you will probably be required to wear a special elastic garment to keep everything in place as you heal.
Recovery Time
The amount of time that your recovery will take depends entirely on the specific procedure that you had done. Botox injections take hours to recover completely. You can even walk out of your doctor's office and head straight back to work or head home. On the other hand, a cosmetic procedure like a tummy tuck is much more involved and thus has a longer recovery time. This particular procedure can take at least a month, if not more, for your body to be truly up to par. Do not get too overanxious during your recovery process. You will see the results that you had hoped for once it is all over.
