Plastic Surgery for your Face
When some people think of Hollywood , or the rich and famous, they think of face lifts. Actually, a face lift can be a useful cosmetic procedure for people from all walks of life. A face lift and neck lift can help to improve the overall appearance of your face and neck, and thus help to increase your feeling of self confidence and self worth.
What a Face Lift Can Improve
Age, sun exposure, heredity, and personal skin care habits can all contribute to the sagging of skin and muscles on your face and neck. One help that a cosmetic surgeon can offer you is a face lift. Please remember that this type of plastic surgery does not literally turn back the lock and it cannot stop the aging process, but this cosmetic procedure can help you with the skin that has become loose on your face and neck. It can help with the deep creases that may have formed on your forehead. It can help your jowls and your double chin. You can achieve an overall appearance that is more youthful and much healthier.
The Cosmetic Surgery Process
As you prepare for this plastic surgery, your doctor will take at look at the features on your particular face. Pictures will even be taken to assist in the scrutiny process. He/she will also need to thoroughly check if you smoke, have trouble with blood clotting, scar easily, or have high blood pressure. Once plans have been finalized for you, the incision for the procedure will be along the temple hairline, and then continue around the ear. During the procedure, your surgeon will raise the skin outward before repositioning that skin. This helps the skin and the underlying muscles and other connective tissue to tighten. Excess skin as well as some fat will be removed if it is necessary. The incisions will then be closed with either small sutures and/or with metal clips. The entire procedure can take anywhere from two to four hours. Some surgeons have you use full anesthesia where others prefer to use a combination of local anesthesia, mild sedatives, and a mild intravenous anesthesia. Check with your personal plastic surgeon to see which method will be used on you.
After Cosmetic Surgery
This type of cosmetic procedure has only a minimal amount of pain following surgery, although swelling and bruising will occur. You may be given a prescription medication and then cold compresses should help to reduce any swelling. Keeping your head elevated and avoiding as much activity as possible for a few days will also help. All staples or sutures will be removed within 5-10 days of the surgery, and most people find that they can return to work in about 2 weeks. At that point, any marks that are still noticeable should be able to be hid using regular makeup techniques. Eventually all scarring should be almost undetectable. Since the aging process still occurs, after a few weeks there will be some relaxing of your facial tissues.
