Nose Cosmetic Surgery

The nose is one of the most prominent parts of your face. You probably feel like everyone is staring right at your nose because it is so prominent. If you are dissatisfied with your nose, then nose surgery may be for you. This type of cosmetic surgery is also referred to as a nose job or rhinoplasty. This cosmetic procedure is meant to help you to reshape you nose into one that makes you feel more confident and less self conscious.

The Possibilities of a Nose Job

Many options exist for helping your nose. It is possible to either increase or reduce the size of your nose. You can change the shape of the bridge or the tip of your particular nose. Nose surgery can also narrow your nostril span, change the angle between your upper lip and your nose, correct birth defects or traumatic injuries, and relieve breathing problems. You do need to realize that a healthy attitude toward your nose is necessary for this plastic surgery. A nose job can enhance your appearance, but it won't likely make you look perfect. If improvement of your appearance is what you are looking for, then nose surgery is probably for you. There are limitations to the finalized look of our new nose that your cosmetic surgeon must work around no matter how qualified and talented he/she is. The basic structure of your face and your nose does place limitations on your results.

The Nose Job Procedure

Most plastic surgeries involving the nose can be done using an incision placed inside the nose. This means that there would be no visible scarring at all. If your particular procedure must have an incision outside of the nose, it is generally placed right at the base of the nose so that the final scar is next to invisible. The actual process that is followed during a rhinoplasty varies from case to case. This is because this is such a personalized surgery. There is a chance that a follow up surgery will be necessary in order for you to achieve your desired results, but if this is necessary, it would be a minor surgery.

Cosmetic Surgery Side Effects

This type of cosmetic surgery does run the risk of causing a nosebleed, an infection, or you could have a reaction to the anesthesia. It is also possible that small red spots could form on your nose. These are blood vessels that burst in the process. The effect would be minor, but it could be permanent. More common are the after effects of the surgery. You will probably have a dull headache for a few days as well as pain and discomfort. Swelling and bruising will also occur. Pain medication and healing time will take care of all of these effects.
