Cosmetic Surgery for Your Abdomen
You may work and work and work, and still have sagging skin around your abdomen area. One plastic surgery that might help is a tummy tuck. This cosmetic surgery is meant for those that still have excessive sagging skin know matter what you do. If you are a woman, perhaps you have had multiple pregnancies, and your stretched out skin will not shrink back into shape. If you are a man or a woman, you may have at one time been obese, and after losing a tremendous amount of weight, your stretched out skin refuses to shrink back into shape. Whatever the cause, a tummy tuck could help your self confidence and your self esteem by improving the appearance of your abdominal area.
What Can a Tummy Tuck Do?
A tummy tuck allows your cosmetic surgeon to remove extra fat and skin. The procedure also includes tightening up the muscles that are in the abdominal wall. The overall effect is one of a firmer, healthier appearance. Realize that your abdomen may not be bikini ready, since this cosmetic surgery can leave large permanent scars. Your clothes will fit better though, with all of the excessive skin out of the way.
Cautions about a Tummy Tuck
As already mentioned, you need to make sure that you are fine with having sizable scars. For many people a scar, large or not, is a small price to pay for the extra skin to be gone. If you are a woman and still want to have more children it would be wise to wait. This is because during pregnancy, the muscles that are tightened during a tummy tuck will become separated again. If you are still trying to lose weight, it would also be wise to wait until all of your pounds are lost. That way there will not be any loose skin left over in your final transformation.
The Tummy Tuck Cosmetic Procedure
There are two possible options with a Tummy Tuck. Either option is a major cosmetic surgery procedure, so make your choice with care. The first option is a complete abdominoplasty. This procedure is great for those people that have a lot of excessive skin to remove. You are cut from hip bone to hip bone in the process. The incision is made low, right at the public hair line. This cosmetic procedure requires your belly button to be repositioned in the process. This surgery will take anywhere from 2-5 hours. The actual time depends on your particular case. After surgery you would have drainage tubes in place, and after a few days those would then need to be removed. The other option is a partial or mini abdominoplasty. This is great for people whose fat deposits are located below the navel. An endoscope can be used to assist in this procedure. Your belly button will not have to be moved at all. This option takes up to 2 hours to perform. Again the exact time depends upon your particular case.
